Our proprietary technology provides large scale benefits for clients in the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) segment:

  • High Energy Density:

Lithium-ion batteries offer the highest energy density in the rechargeable-battery market (100-265 Wh/kg). This makes charging a lithium-ion battery easier, faster and long-lasting. This makes for a more powerful battery overall- even when compared to lithium iron phosphate ones.

  • Low Maintenance:

Lithium-ion batteries are easy to use and relatively low maintenance, especially compared to nickel-based batteries. No priming equipment is required and maintaining their battery life does not entail scheduled cycling. Lithium-ion batteries also have no memory effect, which would cause batteries to perform at a lower capacity after repeated partial discharge and charge cycles.

  • Performance and Longevity:

Lithium-ion chemistry is high-performing and an ideal for high-power applications. They deliver more current compared to batteries with nickel-based chemistry. They have the capacity to deliver up to 3.6 Volts, which is three times higher than their nickel alternatives. Due to their slow self-discharge rate (around 1.5-2% per month) lithium-ion batteries have a long shelf life.

  • Versatility:

Lithium-ion batteries provide an ideal renewable energy solution in many different applications. Their technology can be used to power or store energy for portable electronic devices, electronic cars, aerospace and other high-power applications.

Lithium Smart Energy Storage System

Compared to the other high-quality rechargeable battery technologies (nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal-hydride), Li-ion batteries have a number of advantages. They have one of the highest energy densities of any battery technology today (100-265 Wh/kg or 250-670 Wh/L). In addition, Li-ion battery cells can deliver up to 3.6 Volts, 3 times higher than technologies such as Ni-Cd or Ni-MH. This means that they can deliver large amounts of current for high-power applications, which has Li-ion batteries are also comparatively low maintenance, and do not require scheduled cycling to maintain their battery life.

Li-ion batteries have no memory effect, a detrimental process where repeated partial discharge/charge cycles can cause a battery to ‘remember’ a lower capacity. This is an advantage over both Ni-Cd and Ni-MH, which display this effect. Li-ion batteries also have low self-discharge rate of around 1.5-2% per month. They do not contain toxic cadmium, which makes them easier to dispose of than Ni-Cd batteries.

The term “lithium-ion” refers not to a single electrochemical couple but to a wide array of different chemistries, all of which are characterized by the transfer of lithium ions between the electrodes during the charge and discharge reactions. Li-ion cells do not contain metallic lithium; rather, the ions are inserted into the structure of other materials, such as lithiated metal oxides or phosphates in the positive electrode (cathode) and carbon (typically graphite) or lithium titanate in the negative (anode).
