During April 2023, the weighted average price of the electricity bag in Colombia was 231.45 COP/kWh, presenting a decrease of 21.97% compared to the average price of March, which was 296.6 COP/kWh, continuing to fall compared to the previous months.
In addition, in the National Interconnected System, SIN, 89.46% of energy was generated from renewable sources and 10.54% from non-renewable sources. In this same month, the availability of water resources increased from 59.88% in March to 62.11%, which probably contributed to the reduction in the stock market price.
In addition, the price of contracts in April for both the regulated and non-regulated market, decreased by 0.73% and 1.21%, respectively, in relation to March prices. This reduction may be related to the lower value of the Preliminary Domestic Supply Producer Price Index, a factor widely used in the indexation of contracts.
“In the long-term bilateral contracts with Non-Conventional Sources of Renewable Energy, FNCER, in the month of April, 512.51 GWh were transacted, being 94.83% the product of contracts awarded through the auctions of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, while the remaining 5.17% comes from public calls awarded through SICEP. What was traded in April with FNCER corresponds to 8.09% of commercial demand,” says Cecilia Maya, Wholesale Energy Market Manager of XM
