ArtIn Energy designed, financed, produced and installed a 10 MWp solar power farm in Casanare – Colombia, becoming the largest solar energy system in the private oil and gas sector in Latin America.
Klarzen Inc.’s total investment in this project exceeds $9 million, providing employment for more than 200 local employees. This solar farm contributes to a clean environment by reducing 5,915 tons of CO2 pollution, which is equivalent to planting more than 200,000 trees in the next 10 years.
The cost of solar has plummeted to the point where electricity from solar photovoltaics (PV) is produced for 2 to 5 cents per kilowatt hour, compared to 15 cents per kilowatt hour for fossil fuel power generation. That’s a far cry from solar’s infancy in the 1950s, when the cost of a solar cell was nearly $1,800 per watt, which would have been equivalent to producing electricity for $661 per kilowatt hour today.
Installing a solar plant provides oil and gas producers with an alternative source of on-site electricity generation. Distribution lines in remote locations sometimes break due to equipment capacity limitations, storms, and fires. Similarly, delivery of generator fuel to remote locations may be delayed. Solar PV can be combined with energy storage, allowing the solar plant to generate electricity 24/7 like a traditional power plant.
The energy recovery time of a solar plant is less than two years. Unlike traditional energy sources, solar energy has no negative effects on air quality, does not generate carbon monoxide or sulfur dioxide, and its use can generate carbon offset credits for oil and gas producers.
ArtIn Energy is creating a world with free energy for every human being on earth.
